Projekt fotograficzny realizowany przez Jędrzeja Sokołowskiego od początku 2010 roku opowiada o peryferiach Warszawy. Rozrastające się miasto powiększa się o dzielnice rozrzucone na jego obrzeżach. Nowe, często nieskończone lub budowane w pośpiechu osiedla posiadają charakterystyczny krajobraz – dużo pustej, niezagospodarowanej i nienazwanej jeszcze przestrzeni. Szerokie puste, dzikie przestrzenie kontrastują z nieoswojoną i niezamieszkaną jeszcze architekturą. Są to miejsca nowe i nieodkryte. Fotograf ustawia swój wielkoformatowy panoramiczny aparat tam gdzie przeciętny warszawiak nie dociera. Fotografuje rzeczy pozornie zwykłe i niewarte uwagi. Stara się uchwycić moment zawieszenia. Przedstawiane miejsca niedawno były obce i dzikie, a za chwilę będą częścią miasta.
The New Warsaw is a series of documentary pictures showing landscapes and architecture of Warsaw suburbs. Pictures which have been taken from the beginning of 2010, present the story of suburbs of a fast expanding city. The aim of the project was to show new and undiscovered places, the parts of the city where most of the Warsaw citizens never venture. Taking pictures of the things ordinary and uninteresting on the first look has to be considered as an attempt of making a document which shows a new areas of the city. Just recently all these places were still wilderness, but tomorrow they will be a part of the metropolis. The pictures are taken in the various conditions, different seasons, but always with specific soft light of the sunrise or twilight. Pastel colors, a lack of the contours, air prospect and consequent horizontal framing are used to show the moment before the architect's vision would transform the landscape of uncontrollable wild nature. The picture of inhabited buildings is referring to visualizations made by architects. The wide view of the landscapes is follows the tradition of painting.
Fotografický projekt, na kterém Jędrzej Sokołowski pracuje od začátku roku 2010, vypráví o varšavských periferiích. Rozrůstající se město pohlcuje území rozprostřené po jeho obvodu. Nová, často nedokončená anebo narychlo stavěná sídliště mají charakteristický ráz. Je pro ně typické velké množství prázdných, nevyužitých a ladem ponechaných prostor. Široké a pusté, prostory kontrastují s dosud neosvojenou a nezabydlenou architekturou. Fotograf staví svůj velkoformátový panoramatický přístroj tam, kam se průměrný obyvatel Varšavy nedostane, a odkrývá nová, dosud neobjevená místa. Fotografuje věci zdánlivě banální a nehodné pozornosti. Snaží se zachytit okamžik přechodu mezi tím, co bylo před stavbou, a tím, co po jejím dokončení vznikne. Místa na fotografiích byla ještě nedávno cizí a necivilizovaná, ale za chvíli budou součástí města.
